|June 7, 2005||League vs Norfolk & Chance||Won by 28 runs|
Last game for Jim is a winner
Two wins in five days -- Jim Thornhill's testimonial match on Thursday night saw him score an unbeaten 51 and then take three key wickets -- all caught by Tim "Pietersen" Castle -- to help secure a 28 run victory over Norfolk & Chance.
Captain Jonathan Stebbins retired on 50, while Dave Burt was another retiree on 15 - hurt after stopping a sharp (and wide) delivery with his foot. He was later discovered to have broken a metatarsal bone and will be out for much of the rest of the season.
Paul Hosking kept the runs ticking over with an undefeated 18. Simon Tate in the last ball of the last over took his first league wicket with a Nick Clarke stumping.
Tight fielding and bowling - Richard Griffiths took 1-13 off three overs, including a wicket maiden - with Peter Frisby nimbly subbing for the limping Burt, topped a superlative performance all round.
Now Jim is off to Australia to find out what's gone wrong with cricket down under. Good luck!
