Played at Victoria Park, pitch 3
Report by George Watson

Stokey Scoundrels and Old Fallopians 2nds battled it out on pitch three as Stokey continued to push for the top spot in the group and Old Fallopians searched for an elusive first win.

Opting to bat, the Fallopians claimed an early wicket, running out Hubert Dampier for three as he scampered back for a second. Two glistening shots from Ishaq Raheel were quickly undone when he was trapped LBW to a plumb slow delivery from Steve Hamilton that he missed attempting to sweep.

These early setbacks left the Scoundrels on 52-2, but Vivek Sarohia kept his composure to strike a battling half-century. He was aided along the way by Tom Bull (20) and Noah Bador (17). Both were bowled by Jack Holmes with a tight full line. Holmes collected a third wicket, ending with 3-36 when he caught and bowled the dangerous Lee Houghton for 5.

Somnath Batabyal was run out well short of his ground for seven. Vivek briefly returned to the crease for a second time this season, ending unbeaten on 53 as the Scoundrels struck a battling 145-6.

Old Fallopians started well, Jack Holmes and Fahim Pathan sharing a 21-run opening stand before Holmes was superbly bowled by a yorker from Priyan Odedra that flew under his bat for 11.

Mohammed Faraz was the star of the show for the Fallopians as the powerful right hander smashed a 30-ball half century, scoring over half the runs for his side, as the other end continued to lose wickets.

Keeper Vivek Sarohia took two sharp catches off Hubert Dampier’s bowling, removing Jonathan Stebbins without scoring and skipper Faisel Mahboob for a single. Mohsin Mahmood followed for Dampier’s third wicket, clean bowled also for one.

Lee Houghton also got in on the act, bowling Salman Mahmood for a third straight single in the line-up.

Steve Hamilton resisted alongside Faraz, as the pair gallantly battled, before Hamilton was superbly caught by a diving Dampier, rounding off an impressive display by the Scoundrels. Old Fallopians were bowled out for 99 and Stokey collected three more points.
