Old Fallopian's first weekend fixture was, in sharp contrast to
our April midweek matches, blessed with tropical sun, London
temperature exceeding Ibiza!
The carnival spirit flowed.
Having won the toss, I elected to bat. Rav Matharu and Rich Hay, a
Gumtree find from the irrepressible Steve Hamilton, put on a
phenomenal 140 opening stand in 13 overs. Rich retired at 103, Rav
contributed 24. We then collapsed to 211 all out from 27 overs.
Dilip from Woodford Green bowled with nagging accuracy to take 6-28.
Woodford Green were put under severe pressure from the start,
being reduced to 22-3 after 10 overs, thanks to hostile spells from
Charlie Miller and Rav. Henceforth, the result was a formality.
Woodford Green ended on 182 -8.
In summary, a match played in a great spirit, spectacular weather
and a thumping victory for the Fallopians.
Old Fallopians 211 all out (27 overs)
Rich Hay 103 (retired)
Rav Matharu 24
Dilip 6 wickets 28 runs
Woodford Green 182-8
Saf (one of 3 Victoria Park net recruits by Steve) 2-18
Darryl Christie 1-25
A special mention to wily
John Shaw, who recovered from a severe case of 'trigger finger '
whilst umpiring (!!) to bowl 0-22 from 7 consecutive overs.
