Played at Millfields Park

This match ensured a good finish to 2016 season as Old Fallopians won the encounter against Homerton convincingly. We were able to field a strong side. The 35 overs were played in good spirit and game started on time. The ground and pitch were in good condition even after some heavy rain on Saturday. Sunday itself was a nice warm day.

Result : Excellent victory for Old Fallopians by 106 runs. Old Fallopians scored 226 in 30 overs and Homerton scored 123 runs in 29.1 overs. Lot of great performances both with ball and bat. Sheraz, Yousaf, Rizwan and Azaz were standout performances.

Toss : Old Fallopians won the toss and elected to bat. This year we have preferred to have a bat first due to strong bowling and hard hitting batting.

Batting :The famous opening pair of Will and Suhail were together again. Will got out after hitting a nice six and then Karamat did a short sweet cameo (22 off 8 balls)  including a hatrick of 6ís  - got out trying the 4th one on the boundary to a well-judged catch by Ned. Suhail was out caught on 25 and Azaz on 12, Sheraz continued and made a composed 59. Rizwan a fiery 58. In total Old Fallopians hit 12 sixes and run rate was always around 8 per over.  Yousaf hit a quick 13 and our score of 226 in 30 overs was a huge one (if we would have batted 35 overs, it would have been 270 at the same rate).

Bowling:  Azaz and Yousaf opened. Azaz was unplayable on the day. Went for ZERO runs during his spell. 4 overs and 4 maidens with ideal line and length with lots of teasing outswing on display. This created pressure and Yousaf was on fire with 4 overs 11 runs 4 wickets. His left hand action has great inswing and on the day he was using this perfectly.  1st one was good keeper catch by Sheraz and rest hit the timber. Hassan bowled really hostile Ė choosing to bowl towards the shorter boundary on leg side did not stop him going after the batsman with lot of bouncers on glove and body (later Macrus from opposition was showing bruises from Hassanís fast accurate body line bowls) - Israr also was rewarded with 1 wicket off 4 overs for 13 runs of disciplined bowling. John Shaw came and got the remain 3 wickets with really intelligent accurate bowling of 4.1 overs and only conceding 15 runs. Karamat and Rizwan showed their spin power and got 1 wicket each.   Our bowlers only conceded 1 six.

Fielding : Excellent fielding again - excellent catches by Sheraz in the 1st over behind the stumps -  Will Hopson-Hill judged a skier really well and took on top of the head at mid-wicket. Azaz took an easier chance but still a tricky one at extra cover. One more catch that I donít remember ( remind me folks) Ė Yousaf did lot of running and overall everyone were on the ball and made us look a professional unit.
