A September surprise was sprung on us, as our opponents Oakfield
Parkonians elected to bat on a green wicket. Their decision,
unsurprisingly, backfired spectacularly.
Shezad and yours truly bulldozed the top order in swing and seam
friendly conditions. The Parkonians were tottering at 48-4 after 15

their number 10 bludgeoned an unbeaten 50. The Parkonian
counterattack was checked, however, by a brilliant spells of hostile
fast bowling from Naveen and Raj.
Chasing a competitive 230,
the Fallopians got off to a solid start, Rajesh and Tariq putting on
47. Thereafter, a modest Parkonian bowling attack induced a
succession of soft dismissals and 47-0 became 71-4.
flamboyant strokeplay does not win matches - partnerships do.
Mujahid and Bharat did just that with 53. This pair were backed up
by pugnacious hitting from Shyam and Asad and soon less than two per
over was required.
However, as has happened throughout the
season, we were unable to bat out our allotted 40 overs and fell 18
