They spinned, they span, they spun. And we
couldn't hit them.
Five (!) overs of tricky stuff from Grasshoppers 2
captain Pat McGuinness so bamboozed our finest wandsmiths (Andrew
Wardle, Fred Barrass) that only 13 runs were scored during the
spinfest.
Only hopeless keeping prevented umpteen stumpings --
in fact our air-swiping willow wavers survived all McGuinness's
overs intact.
Our own ball wizard, Kit Wright, captured a trio of
wickets for a more expensive 38. But we seemed powerless to resist
the Hopper onslaught and let them charge up a 150 run target.
Jonathan Stebbins was an early loss -- departing
after his first Old Fallopian duck. The remaining Fallopian
strikeforce failed to deliver and we swished and missed our way to a
disappointing 94.
