Clifford regrets slip at wicket

It was neither the lifting delivery that hit his glove, nor the one stopped by his box that prevent Greg Clifford from scoring more than twenty-four. 

Instead, a swift but light drizzle and sudden turn and slip, studs not included, ended with left side scapula and humerus disunited. We can now, not proudly, add the Chelsea and Westminster hospital to the John Radcliff, Kingston and the London. 

The X-rays showed the humerus displaced by approximately four inches. Greg will be in a sling for the 3-4 four weeks and presumably will also require psychotherapy, it was he who in March was taken to the London, directly from cricket nets. I feel Greg might be an unlikely player for the rest of this season. 

After the incident the game was reduced to 25 overs, Will Robertson took captaincy, recruited Henry Sanderson (who has played for us previously) and when victory seemed in sight, solid middle order batting from Balham's O'Keefe and Weaver led to a last over defeat. In the end we scored 169 and Balham Roamers achieved 170 with five balls to spare. 

Notable performances were given by David Fitzpatrick, 101, Mark Dummett 5-1-10-0,Henry Sanderson 5-0-21-2, Mark Meadows, first time wicket keeper and Mark Venables in attempting to keep Greg awake and alert, "Do you think Australia should become a republic?"

The match was played in good spirit and the return game will be on July 24th.
