Martian conflict
ends all square
Played at Victoria Park
By Philip Barrass
Well, what a game against plucky old foe Martians. We were tough
- damned tough. We put ourselves in to bat with their numbers still
at 6. Much style, aggression and flayling later, we had 157. Surely
enough.
Never underestimate a Martian, is my advice. A rapid and unbeaten
50 from their opener, not even wearing proper cricket gear (Tim,
check rules on this, please), kept them on our tails, occasionally
nipping ahead.
Wickets started to fall, catching was faultless, but they kept in
the race. Last ball, 5 to win, one wicket left, opener back at the
crease, inside edge from a rapid straight delivery sped to the
boundary behind leg
Tied!
