Played at Victoria Park
- Struggled all week to get out team on damp, cloudy evening
- Manged to get eight, but Philip Barrass had to leave after our
innings to go to a leaving meal
- Freddie Barrass unable to
run because of bad knee
- Martians bowling quicker than in previous incarnations, but
openers P Barrass (36) and Paul Hosking (29) pushed score ahead,
only for team to collapse Fallopian-style
- Comedy of errors saw Matt Wales on season debut run out for duck
(but kept wicket in style)
- F Barrass also fell without troubling scorer, clean bowled
- Captain Tim Castle, in at the death, notched up 9 (and
nasty bruise on thigh), before run out on last ball of innings, with score
two short of century on 99
- Martians had little difficulty achieving target, though early lbw
for John Shaw raised hopes
- Nightmare opening over for Castle, at least 8 wides. Reprieved by
captain (Castle), fared better in next two overs
- Stand-out performance by Sheraz Shahid (Son of Sam, 12), virtually
only fielder on side capable of running at any pace. Bowled tight
final over, five balls for two runs.
