Played at Greenwich Park Another magnificent game going down to the final over for the third weekend game in a row! As usual I lost the toss, but I would have elected to bowl anyway. Four new recruits with a younger look to our usual team, with me being the oldest on our team. Athleticism of our new line up took charge with reliable line and length bowing from Tristan who took two early wickets for hardly any runs. The slightly extra pace and unpredictability of Zain proved dividends with a back of length ball that went straight to point at a rate of knots to Naveen with a took a superb catch. Eamon and Ali both bowled well with control and accuracy and Ali should of had a wicket with his first ball when normally our specialist fielder Naveen at point dropped Murphy who was on single figures at the time with a much easier catch then before. Murphy remained unbeaten with 62 in the end. On came Sukhwant with a mixture of spin and took charge and was rewarded with two wickets. Israr also bowled well and took a wicket. Not my day for bowling as they took a liking to me and smashed me mostly to leg side. Azaz took a rest and didn't bowl, but was in control of the team in masterminding the fielding and with words of wisdom to our new look side. With a target of 156 it wasn't going to be easy as we got hammered a couple seasons ago and bowled out for 95. Our openers Kath and Farhad who both got midweek 50s got out for 13. In came Azaz with his usual swashbuckling style hitting 6 fours in short time before being bowled around his legs for 28 a mini crisis set in and a another 2 quick wickets was to follow and we needed 58 of 9 overs with only 3 wickets left! Then the match changed a great 50-run partnership from Naveen and Sukhwant almost took us home when Sukhwant skied one in the air and was caught out for classier 32. Leaving us needing 3 from the final over! Man of the Match Naveen who batted with composure throughout his innings took us home with the remaining runs and was unlucky not to get his 50 and ended up on 49 not out. All round the perfect day, played with passion and competitive spirit and smiles and handshakes after the game and a return fixture next season is on the cards. Cincinnati
