The OF 2nds third game of the season against Sports Interactive was
held on the biggest pitch - pitch 3.
The weather was kind
again and the opposition a jolly nice bunch. We lost the toss and
the opposition chose to bat. Our bowling was excellent in this match
- Jack Holmes taking a great catch off his own bowling (plus another
catch), Jack Wright clean bowling someone with his first ball of the
day and the rest of the wickets were nicely shared out amongst the
bowlers with Steve Hamilton getting two wickets - I heard one of the
batsmen describing him as "annoyingly accurate".
A special
mention for Ollie Gold as he took two outstanding catches. The first
was an excellent catch diving forward with outstretched arms, the
ball inches from the ground. The second catch was one of the most
amazing catches I've ever seen. The ball was struck firmly in the
direction of Ollie in the covers who, somehow, plucked the ball out
of the sky with one hand and in the process did an almost full back
flip/cartwheel-type thing. Amazing athleticism, amazing catch.
Due to our excellent bowling and four great catches the
opposition were all out for a low score of 52. This was Naveen's
last game for OFs for a while as he and his family are off to India
for a year with work so he was offered the chance to open. The
phrase he said as we walked out was "no need to take risks". Sports
Interactive had some very good bowlers and apart from one wayward
over they were very accurate, tricky bowlers.
We reached our
target with relative ease and won the game by six wickets with
nearly six overs to spare. An excellent win for the OFs and off to
the pub early. Marvellous!
