- Victory at last in the second of two consecutive
evening matches in the delayed restart of the season at Victoria
Park.
- Fine debut for Fred Campbell, flatmate of Ollie
Gold, recruited at the last minute after we were short one player.
Two wickets and handy in the field.
- Excellent catches taken by
Anthony Banks and Jack Holmes. Wickets also for Holmes and Ilyas Mansha.
- Effective
bowling from Banks, Holmes, Mansha and Campbell restricted Phoenix
batsmen and left us with an achieveable target of 145.
- Former
Fallopian Kafh Hasan behind the stumps for Phoenix, garrulous as
ever.
- Dogged 45 from opener Jack Turner, after Phoenix bowlers
proved faster and more accurate than hoped
- Good knocks by
Hamza Jamshaid and Gold, but we remained behind the run rate until the final
few overs.
- Banks and Holmes were able to hit out as the
Phoenix bowling tired.
- Holmes clobbered Phoenix's Angus Grant for 16 in the
penultimate over, but was then run out in middle of the last over
with four balls left and eight needed.
- Banks facing. A wide and
a four meant just three were needed off the last three deliveries.
- Banks smashed a four from the next ball, securing the win with two
balls to spare.
- Socially distanced joy among Fallopians,
disappointment for Phoenix, who must have felt they had the game
wrapped up after 13 overs when OF were trailing 50 behind the target
with only three overs to go.
