Report by Steve Hamilton

We arrived at the picturesque home of High Beach on a beautiful sunny day with temperatures around 25˚C

Everything went to according to script! We won the toss and we posted a decent total of 249.

Three of our batsman stood out and they all hit half centuries. Jakaria Ahmed hit seven fours and one six in his blistering knock of 51. Azaz Kahlil continued where he left off last week with another pugnacious 50 which included seven fours and one six. He also shared a 110-run third-wicket partnership with Salim Mithani who looked sensational placing the ball at will, hitting ten fours for a masterful 67.

Once batting was done it was time for one of best moments of the day – tea! We enjoyed mouth-watering chicken biryani kindly made by Jakaria and Asad’s other half. After that lavish feast we were fortified for battle.

Wickets fell frequently. Talal Ali clean bowled Islam in the second over. Salim Mithani took two quick wickets to add to his performance with the bat. Asad Mushtaq bowled an impressive tight spell conceding just seven runs in his six overs.

Jonathan Stebbins was rewarded with a wicket, but credit must be shared with the nimble Salahuddin Zaidi who came sprinting in to take a spectacular low catch at mid-wicket.

Subhan Aftab confirmed he was in top form by taking three wickets once again for the second week running!

Debutant Goddalla Srinivasrao also made a big impression. He showed some lively pace and managed to get some swing.

I decided to try my luck and I was soon causing mayhem, in the process removing the dangerous Johns. I floated the ball above his eyeline as he tried to cross-bat the delivery towards deep square leg. He completely missed the ball and was cleaned bowled for 20.

Azaz Kahlil came on at the end to bowl some gentle spin and took a wicket with his fourth ball and I wrapped up proceedings by clean bowling Imran.

We won comfortably by 113 runs!
