Played at Alexandra Park
- How long before the big money men come calling? Star discovery
Atiq Talukder knocked off a casual 169 against a depleted Alexandra
Park on a hot Sunday as the Old Fallopians romped to a 185 run
victory.
- The AP worked their few bowlers hard in a 40-over game assisted by
a roster of Fallopian subs, who selflessly took two catches, with
Dan Linde closing his hands over a blast from Talukder that cut off
his chase for a second record tally after his
debut 192 against
Ilford Catholics.
- The match featured a first weekend appearance from Sam Berkson,
and a rare appearance from newly-qualified doctor Mike Haycock,
before he goes to cure the good people of Taunton.
- Azaz Khalil demonstrated he knows which way up to hold his bat,
crashing the ball to the boundary with fours and sixes before fellow
Fallopian John Shaw removed him with a sadly unmissable catch.
- Captain Will Hopson-Hill looked set for a decent total, until he
wasn't when he played round a straight one and lost his stumps, much
to his obvious chagrin.
- After tea in the AP's well-appointed clubhouse, Hopson-Hill set
about removing the opposition's seven batsmen by ordering a
ferocious bowling attack, led by Haycock and Tim Castle.
- Swiftly changing plan after the batsmen set about Castle's second
over (despite an opening maiden), Hopson-Hill unleashed the
Khalil-Talukder bowling machine, who removed five wickets between
them, with Atiq taking two wickets in four overs for just five runs.
- AP were dismissed for 110 after 24 overs, batting all the way to
their shortened tail and, clearly, missing the four batsmen who
shoud've, could've, but weren't, there.
- Beery refreshments topped off the outing for the so far unbeaten
weekend Fallopians.
